NayKid Racing Places Two Dodge Viper SRT10s in Top-Five at Runoffs Primer
LEXINGTON, Oh., August 22, 2005 NayKid Racing used the 18th Annual Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Buckeye Sprint Nationals to place both of its KUMHO Tires/ Dodge Motorsports/ SRT/ Mopar Performance Parts/ Forgeline Wheels/ CORSA Exhaust/ Moton Shocks Dodge Viper SRT10s in the top-five of the T1 class race. Scotty B. White (Puyallup, Wash.) won the pole position for the class with a T1 track record lap of the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course's “Club” circuit and would finish second at the checkered flag. Teammate Cindi Lux (Aloha, Ore.), who is still convalescing from a mid-season injury, shadowed White across the line taking fourth in the No. 78 V10-power machine. As the final race leading into September's SCCA National Championship Runoffs Presented by Kohler here at the Mid-Ohio, the strong performance was just the momentum builder that the team needed.“We have momentum with our program now,” Lux enthused. “This race gave us a huge shot in the arm. I am not going to kid anybody; this year has been tough on many levels. But now the NayKid Racing machine is rolling and it feels like the old days again. The Viper seems to be responding incredible to the KUMHO tires and we are not done tuning on them yet.”Despite an early race miscue, White charged his silver Viper SRT10 back through the field of the T1 class's most hotly contested event in recent memory. The inspired drive in the 41 car field 11 of which were in T1 showed the strength of the NayKid Racing Dodge Viper SRT10 after a season devoted to development. The performance of both White and Lux bodes well not only for NayKid and the Viper SRT10 program, but also for the T1 class as the top-five was split across the classes three manufacturers. Traditionally a one-make show, the SCCA has pursued new manufacturer's to bring added interest to its premier nearly-stock sports car class. While the Corvette still holds a dominating position in car count, its on-track domination is coming under fire from NayKid's Dodge Viper SRT10s and Porsche's privateer 911. White was understandably excited about the team's return to peak performance. “Yeah baby! Now we're lookin' like a NayKid team! Someone said, Gee, it looks like the NayKid cars have suddenly found some speed.' Yeah, suddenly'. We finally got some racier than stock springs and swaybars approved to go on the cars a whopping 60 days ago. We have gotten faster at every track, all four of them, since. We now have the Moton shocks and the Mopar T1 kit sorted out to work its magic on the KUMHO Tires. We haven't run against the best Corvette in T1 yet but we are very encouraged by this weekend's results.” “I think we are starting to see a little more parity in the cars now. There are some people that have their nose bent out of shape that we are fast in Vipers and they are spending too much time figuring out how to slow us down,” when Lux was asked to comment on the ongoing battle over the rule package centering on the Dodge Viper SRT10. “But, they seem to forget, we were fast in Corvettes too. We just love the fact of not being in the Corvette parade this year at the Runoffs. Dodge has built a great product and I think more people will be scratching their heads on which car to buy next year”Working with Dodge Motorsports, SRT, Mopar and its other technical partners to develop the SRT10 for much of the '05 season, Sunday's results show the development is paying dividends. The Buckeye Nationals and subsequent SCCA Runoffs are providing a great stage for the NayKid Racing Viper SRT10s on and off the track. In fact, the team's commitment to perfection has drawn the attention of several technical partners eager to work with the team even in a development year. “NayKid Racing has always been a very professional team,” commented David Schardt, president of Forgeline Wheels. “Cindi has always been as fierce a competitor as Scotty and a wonderful spokesperson as well. Forgeline is very involved with the Viper Racing League, and when Scotty called to say he was switching to Vipers, the decision to sponsor the team was easy. I knew they would instantly be competitive, and it would be a great way to expose ourselves to the SCCA Club Racing side of things. The cars are beautiful, competitive and I am seeing them everywhere. I even had a customer call and say he saw the cars in a parade on TV, saw the Forgeline Logo on the car, and wanted to know about the wheels for his track car. That just tells you how much the cars stand out and that people are standing up and taking notice.”“NayKid Racing has provided Red Line Oil with some very impressive promotional opportunities over the years,” offered Red Line Synthetic Oil Corporation's Director of Marketing Cameron Evans. “Those opportunities have grown with the Viper program. Since the performance of the cars that they run is very similar to what the grassroots racer is trying to achieve, the NayKid team provides us with a direct opportunity to show potential and current customers that the best racers are using our products.”To learn more about NayKid Racing, please visit www.NayKidRacing.com.
